@David, @Jason -- are you both confirming that this issue is related to
a BIOS update, that downgrading the BIOS has resolved it?

Hi all,
I'm experiencing the same problem.
I'm trying to fix it dongrading the BIOS, but I have some question (It's the first time I use Ubuntu and I'm not that good with computers...)
The BIOS verision given in the suggest link says that its applicable to the NB models having part number beginnng with "PLL10U", but actually mine starts with PLL10E (It's a NB100-11R).
Is it still applicable?

I've have a question on how to create a bootable usb stick, but as I'm
new (this is my first post here!), maybe I can find the answer searching
in other topics.

Thanks!

I confirm it worked out for me. 1.60 seems the best BIOS out there for
this netbook.

Here you can find ways to flash the bios with a usb stick:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/netbook-remix/+bug/348198

If you need assistance, just contact me, i'm not following this topic
that much to answer all questions in a short term period.

@dragostino: I think the bios update utility is checking if it can fit
to that chip what you have. We are using a bios from a different
netbook, but its binarily the same. Try it, if it can be done, it will
do it. If not, it will say so. Thats my opinion only, cannot take
warranty for it.

Thank you David!
I've realized that "U" refers to "US version" and "E" to "Europe", and than that this bios is good also for me.

I've used imagewriter to create a bootable USB stick, but it doesn't work.
I've tried several time but it seems to skyp the boot by usb drive,
I've enable the usb license and choose usb drive as 1 boot drive.

where I'm wrong?

@ Andy -
Its definably fixed the problem. I've been using my net-book for around 3 - 5 hours every day for work over last month or so and had no problems since rolling my BIOS back to the previous version.

@ dragostino -
To put my BIOS back to 1.6 I followed this method using an old BIOS update...
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB9902P80000R01.htm
However I burnt the image to a CD using an external CD writer, and Booted it that way.
Maybe you could try this method instead of putting it on a USB stick?
